How to become a registered track official with the Ohio High School Athletic Association

New Officials Should follow these steps:

1. Log onto OHSAA.org site, and under the Officiating heading, select "Becoming an official".

2. Scroll down to "Beginning Officials - Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Swimming & Diving, and Track & Field".

OR Instead of steps 1 and 2, you can click here.

3. Track Applications must be received from Dec. 15 through Jan. 15th at the OHSAA office and must contain the $60 fee. Be sure to apply early so you will have time to take the test.

4. Click the link in step 1 to print the officiating application. It’s 2 pages long.

5. Complete the application and mail it to the address on the form with the fee by January 15. For the name of the local association, use Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association.

6. Contact GYTOA secretary Allison Jones to find out when our meetings are so they can attend the meetings to begin their training as well as get on our mailing list.

7. You will receive information from the OHSAA about the test.

8. You must start attending local meetings – you are required to attend 4 each year, including this year. For dates, times and locations, click here.

9. If you have further questions, please contact local secretary Allison Jones. Phone numbers can be found here.
